Federal prosecutors have filed new charges against a man accused of making online threats against President Donald Trump.

Howard Raymond Gimmey, 47, a resident of Midwest City, is charged with threats against the president and two counts of communicating a threat.

According to a superseding indictment filed by the U.S. Attorney for Oklahoma City, Gimmey posted threats on May 5 of this year on social media where he threatened to kill the president. He was originally charged in June with threatening Trump, but prosecutors revealed new charging documents on Oct. 6 that include threats to others, including a threat that 'every single Trump voter' is on his list.

Court records indicate the government believes Gimmey 'knowingly and willfully made the communication and did so with recklessness as to whether it would be viewed as a true threat of violence against the President of the United States.'

He is next scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge on Oct. 16. Before a trial can begin, his attorney has asked the government to prove that Gimmey understood his words were a threat.

A criminal charge is an accusation. Gimmey remains innocent unless proven guilty.
